The Need for Hopeful Characters Like Samwise Gamgee

Who are the characters that writers should be writing about? My answer? Samwise Gamgee. The hopeful optimists of the world. There is an abundance of stories, shows, and music centered on the cynical realism many enjoy in media. Samwise Gamgee is loveable not because hes a loyal protagonist. He’s lovable because he was hopeful despite harship. Not because he was naive and didn’t understand how hard the world is, but because he did understand all those things. The world needs a little less apathy and little more hope. A little more good for goodness sake and a little less cynicism because the world wants to give up. So, yes. We all need a little more Samwise Gamgee.
