The Weight of Words in the Digital Age

We’ve all heard some phrase effecting to sticks and stones make break my bones but silly words can’t hurt me. Many of us have learned that type of logic simply isn’t true. In the digital age, words have weight. They can be a blip in your day or stay with you for years. Likewise this happens in the news. Seemingly inconsequential events can gain enormous attention or become widely ignored. What matters is the way we communicate with the information we have. We have the power to become effective, thorough, and honest communicators. Perhaps even more important than having all those traits is that we choose to communicate peacefully, rather than for an arbitrary number of likes.
